About the role

You’ll be Outline’s first hire in Product & Engineering.

This is a hands-on, wide-range, builder-first seat. As a founding product builder, you will own features end to end: interface with customers when needed, scope solutions to large & ambiguous problems, and ship features by the next week.

You will be able to bring crucial contributions to the table in all Product areas:

• The agentic infra & harness: performance, security, subagent strategies, sandboxing…
• The FP&A vertical layer: build useful primitives for our tool to beat any horizontal competitor on FP&A use cases: financial reports, forecasts, collaborative FP&A processes etc
• Agentic customer onboarding: getting a CFO from messy spreadsheets to a working setup in Outline with no/minimal human in the loop.
• AI delegation: keep users who delegate work to AI in control of what they build, provide transparency, consistency and clarity

As the team grows, so will your scope: hiring, building our AI-assisted development cycle, shaping team rituals.

What we're looking for

• 0-to-1 architect and builder with strong engineering fundamentals and end-to-end ownership
• Product taste: you think user-first, clarify problems, explore solutions with no ego, decide what to build and what great looks like
• You already build with AI agents daily and have opinions about how to do it well.
• Exceptionally clear writing. It's how we think, decide, and stay transparent.
• Comfort with ambiguity and speed. No one will tell you what to do. You'll tell us.
• Bonus: early-stage experience.
